We’ve accepted the #3Things4Neighbours Challenge. See how we’ve been supporting our Communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gibson is proud to have been a participant in the #3things4neighbours challenge circulating on social media. This challenge encourages organizations to participate in three acts of kindness in their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout the pandemic, Gibson Energy and our employees have continued to show that kindness matters. We have continued to give back to our communities in many ways and collectively made a meaningful difference.
In March, Gibson increased our support by tripling employee's Gibson GIVES donations to organizations who were responding directly to the pandemic, helping to provide the needed funding for many local charities. As well, Gibson employees created a fun challenge of shaving their heads in support of charities. The #GibsonBuzzChallenge initiative helped raise $150,000 in support in only two weeks!
Throughout the pandemic, Gibson has supported the healthcare heroes who do so much to keep us all safe! Gibson recognized that these are incredibly stressful times for healthcare workers. We were eager to provide an appreciation meal to the Emergency Department at the Alberta Children's Hospital to show our support for the doctors, nurses and healthcare teams who are committed to saving lives and caring for sick children. For this giving opportunity, we also purchased the meal from a local restaurant to help the local hospitality industry who are struggling with all the changes that COVID-19 has brought to their industry.
Gibson has also helped to care for our isolated and vulnerable populations and focused on supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities to help them stay encouraged as they navigated this pandemic isolated from friends and loved ones. Gibson employees came together and nominated long-term care facilities in our operating areas. We worked with local community partners and arranged to have care packages delivered to these facilities filled with treats and letters to improve residents' mental health and remind them that they are not alone!
We are so glad to see the #3things4Neighbours challenge take place and to hear of all the good many organizations are doing to support the community. Gibson has nominated McCarthy Tétrault LLP, USD Group and Boys and Girls Club of Calgary / Aspen Family & Community Network Society to participate in this meaningful challenge and keep the positivity going, as we all do our best to support our communities.
