Women in Finance Development Program

Developing future finance leaders through experience, exposure and opportunity.


The primary goal of Gibson Energy’s Women in Finance Development Program is to recruit and develop future female leaders by providing exposure to career opportunities in Finance.


Successful candidates will be participating in a two (2)-day informational session hosted by our senior leaders in Finance.  Students will learn and explore the various facets of our finance functions and will have the opportunity to network with our senior leadership and/or Board of Directors.   

Up to five post-secondary students will be selected. This program is an extension of our Summer Student and Co-Op Term recruitment programs, and therefore, suitable student candidate(s) may be selected to move forward with initial interviews at the end of the two-day session. 

Day 1 (Friday, February 21, 2020)

  • Introduction to Gibson Energy.
  • Introduction to the role of the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Information session on controllership.
  • Information session on investor relations, corporate planning and development.
  • Information session on treasury and capital markets.

Day 2 (Monday, February 24, 2020)

  • Attendance at an Audit Committee meeting.
  • Debrief with leadership and discussion about summer opportunities.
  • Networking opportunity with senior leadership and / or Board of Directors.

Program Timing

January 17, 2020: Deadline for applications
January 24, 2020: Notify successful participants of acceptance into the program
February 21, 2020: Day 1 of program
February 24, 2020: Day 2 of program


  • This is open to students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree, with a focus in Economics, Finance or Accounting. 
  • Possess excellent analytical abilities and is highly proficient in MS Excel.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy being part of a team.
  • Desire to learn and develop knowledge of a public company.
