PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor or Area Manager, the Terminal Logistics Coordinator partners with facility personnel and functional areas across the organization to support the safe, efficient, reliable operations, and utilization of Gibson Energy’s trucking terminal assets. The primary job function of this position is to coordinate activities required to support day to day unloading and loading of truck volumes at the facility and to ensure that all trucking carriers are in compliance with all conditions set by Gibson Energy to safely access Gibson facilities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and implement procedures for trucking carrier and driver management working with Terminal Logistic Coordinators in other areas.
  • Perform and track all facility orientations and training loads for all trucking carriers.
  • Perform truck carrier safety audits to ensure drivers are following procedures, all safety training/certification is valid, and all truck safety equipment is in working order.
  • Manage and administer trucking carrier and driver compliance for access agreements, EH&S performance and training requirements through ISNetworld.
  • Manage and administer the assignment of security FOBs to trucking carrier drivers.
  • Manage all problem identification reports from the drivers.
  • Monitor day-to-day truck movement against plan, ensuring product is delivered to the correct designation.
  • Act as primary liaison with trucking carriers and Gibson Energy to keep them aware of any changes at the terminal (i.e. construction, wait times, traffic concerns, operational constraints).
  • Work with Shipper Services and Marketing on acceptance of non-approved loads.
  • Trouble shoot issues that arise with the Terminal Boss weigh scale system or physical scale.
  • Maintain all trucking facilities including general housekeeping, working with facility maintenance to ensure corrective maintenance is addressed in a timely manner.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to maintenance personnel as required.
  • Work with EH&S to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements involving trucking and releases.
  • Investigate and document all incidents that involve trucking carriers, including abnormal ticketing, into Gibson Energy’s EH&S incident management system.
  • Coordinate spill response and clean up in the event of a release.
  • Provide emergency response and on-call support for facility management as required.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSS&E) through participation in all applicable HSS&E programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company HSS&E policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

    • Troubleshoot a broad spectrum of technical issues as it relates to the transportation of crude oil and LPG as well as terminal and pipeline facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers licence.
  • 5+ years of operations or maintenance experience in support of crude oil or LPG transportation.
  • Exposure to truck transportation and crude oil marketing is an asset.
  • Experience with Contractor Management databases (specifically ISNetworld) would be an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of PC’s and Microsoft Windows software, including Word and Excel.
  • Safety certification includes; TDG, WHMIS, H2S, First Aid and Fall Protection.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Field based position with minimal travel.
  • Work involves hands-on support of active operations and maintenance in an outdoor environment, near or around dangerous goods.
  • Must be available to support outside normal work hours and on-call emergency response.
