This is an opportunity for a Control Room Operator 1 who is willing to support business growth, expand their knowledge base, and look for potential career growth. The position has the responsibility and accountability in contributing to the efficient running of the operations to meet our customers needs.


  • Support commissioning, projects, procedures review, SCADA displays, training CRO, vacation / sick coverage (day shifts only when needed or possible).
  • Support implementation / own certain elements of the Control Room Management Compliance Program, for example: shift change, lessons learned, etc.
  • Perform shift / vacation scheduling as per new policy to be announced towards the end of the year.
  • Responsible for scheduling its own time on consoles to maintain competency.
  • Willing to support daily operational business needs as per management direction.
  • Functional Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge and ability to support and work within an Operations Management System structure.
    • Strong operational knowledge and ability as it relates to crude oil processing (upstream and downstream) as well as terminal and pipeline facilities. Solid understanding of equipment, reliability and operational processes.
    • Knowledge and ability to apply relevant technical and regulatory codes and standards to operations.
    • Proven demonstrated competency with oral and written communication.
    • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, make quick on the spot decisions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Represent and promote the company in a responsible, positive and professional manner.
    • Ability to foster strong relationships; customer service focused. 
    • Work collaboratively and effectively with functional areas and other operating areas.
    • Exhibits commitment to quality and safety by evaluating project related processes and making necessary changes, as needed.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work safely at all times.
    • Self-managed; ability to work in a team environment.


  • Control Room Operator 1 level.
  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic computer skills and proficient using MS Office.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Current safety certificates e.g. WHIMIS, TDG, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Confined Space.
  • Previous Control Room experience and/or a Technologist Diploma or Trades Certification, or a combination of experience and post-secondary education, is considered an asset.
  • Proficient use of SCADA as it relates to control, trending, alarms and trouble shooting, is an asset.
  • May require FPHO


  • Schedule: days only; weekly hours: 12x2 + 8x2 or 8x5 as per operational needs
